YOTjR AFFORDABLE SOLUTION
®
TO POLLUTION
For years, Haugh's Products has been a leading manufacturer of woodstoves
and fireplace inserts. Our success has been attributed to our ability to put
quality manufactured products into the hands of our customers at very afforda-
ble prices. Keeping in line with this philosophy our engineering department
set out to develop a new line which would meet the stringent air quality stan-
dards set by the Environmental Protection Agency for the year 1990. Using
advanced new technology our engineering team designed the new product
line which not only meet the new E.P.A. 1990 standards but exceed them. We
added a number of other features such as: an attractive new door with larger
glass; a new improved air wash system for exceptionally clean glass; one
single slide control for simplicity of operation, and many other features.. With
out, we were still able t0
all these changes made to the firebox both inside and
maintain that traditional appearance. But most importantly we managed to
keep quality and affordability as the main priority thereby making your
Haugh's E.P.A. Fireplace Insert the most affordable solution to your wood
heating needs.

SAFETY NOTICE
IF THIS WOOD BURNING APPLIANCE IS NOT PROPERLY INSTALLED, A HOUSE FIRE MAY
RESULT. FOR YOUR SAFETY, FOLLOW THE INSTALLATION DIRECTIONS. CONTACT LOCAL
BUILDING OR FIRE OFFICIALS ABOUT RESTRICTIONS AND INSTALLATION INSPECTION RE-
QUIREMENTS IN YOUR AREA.
After reading these instructions if you have any doubt about your ability to complete your installation in a profes-
sional like manner you should obtain the services of an installer versed in all aspects as to the correct and safe in-
stallation. Do not use temporary makeshift compromises during installation.
GENERAL INFORMATION
1. Read these instructions carefully and completely before installing your new appliance. Failure to follow
them could result in improper operation or heater malfunction. This could result in death, serious
bodily injury and/or property damage.
2. Check with the building inspector's office for compliance with local codes; a permit may be required.
3. This unit is for installation into a masonry type fireplace only. Do not install in a factory built
fireplace.
4. Always connect this unit to a chimney and never vent to another room or inside a building.
5. This unit is not to be connected to any duct work to which another appliance is connected such as a
furnace.
6. Do not connect this unit to a chimney flue serving another appliance.
7. Do not use chemicals, fluids or flammable products to start the fire.
8. The connector pipe and chimney should be inspected periodically and cleaned if necessary.
9. Remember the clearance distances when you place furniture or other objects within the area. Do not
store wood, flammable, liquids or other combustible materials too close to the unit.
10. Contact your local municipal or provincial fire authority for information on how to handle a chimney
fire. Have a clearly understood plan to handle a chimney fire. In the event of a chimney fire, turn air
control to closed position and call fire department.
11. Do not tamper with combustion air control beyond normal adjustment capacities.
12. Operate with doors closed and open doors slowly when refueling.
ALWAYS PROVIDE A SOURCE OF FRESH AIR INTO THE ROOM WHERE THE UNIT IS INSTALLED.
FAILURE TO DO SO MAY RESULT IN AIR STARVATION OF OTHER FUEL BURNING APPLIANCES
AND THE POSSIBLE DEVELOPMENT OF HAZARDOUS CONDITIONS.
INSTALLATION
1. Remove all parts from inside insert body carton to check they are all included. NOTE: You should have
2 cartons.
2. Remove Damper Plate in Fireplace or secure in open position.
3. Clean out fireplace ensuring the ashes are placed in a metal container.
4. Local, provincial, or state jurisdiction may require the insert be installed with a positive flue. It is recom-
mended you obtain a building permit prior to installing the unit to ensure you are in compliance with
local building codes.
5. The insert must be installed in compliance with the minimum clearances and floor protection stated on
the insert sheet specific to your new appliance (see Figure A).
6. Install the refractory bricks in the proper sequence (see Figure B).
7. Slide trim shroud down onto insert. The trim should fit against the face of the fireplace. If this is not a
good fit, a 2" wide strip of fibreglass insulation can be used to insure a good fit.

It is advisable to have your masonry chimney inspected for cracks and check the general condition
before you install your unit. - re-lining may be required to reduce flue diameter to an appropriate func-
tional size.
b) To help ensure a good draft, the top of the chimney should be at least 3 feet above the point of
