Dear Mr. Carlson:
I have reviewed the referenced request for modification of Section R301.2.1, of
the 2003 International Residential Code portion of the 1999 State Building Code,
which states in part that basic wind speeds shall be as determined by
Appendix M.
It is my decision to approve this modification, as requested, and allow use of a
reduced wind speed of 110 mph for this construction project rather than the
Appendix M wind speed of 115 mph which is the designated wind speed for the
municipality of Montville. This decision is based on the proposed amendments to
Appendix M that revise wind speeds in certain municipalities.
