HomeMy WebLinkAbout2020 ViolationOn February 20, 2019 they made application for a permit to remodel a bathroom – Dave did a plan review and requested a floor plan of the area in question as well as a construction value for the work. No one ever responded so the application remained in the pending file. Sometime in January of this year the Fire Marshal became aware that work was being done in the building, so he and I went there and found they were doing renovations without the required permit(s). We had them stop, as they had no permit(s) and the work was being done by unlicensed/unregistered individuals. We made the pastor aware that there were open violations on the building (from the previous owners) including electrical without permits. We met with the pastor in the Fire Marshal’s office and went over the violations and the requirements for code information required in order for them to continue the renovations and clear up the violation(s). One of the requirements was for them to open up some walls and have their electrician verify that the wiring that was done without permits and inspections was code compliant and safe. Their electrician pulled a permit on January 22nd and made any necessary changes and on February 5th the Building Official and Fire Marshal inspected and approved the wiring. On March 5, 2020 the church filed an application for a review to determine bathroom remodel needs. Dave reviewed the application and sent a notice listing the fixture requirements, requesting bathroom layout, and stating that a permit fee for the work needed to be calculated. The fee will be calculated buy the Building Department once we have an application for the work to be done. There were changes made to other rooms, ie. addition or removal of rooms, and we asked for a floor plan layout of the entire building with room sizes and uses so we and the Fire Marshal can accurately determine the occupant load of the building. In addition to the above, during the meeting with the Fire Marshal and the pastor we discussed the possible use of the existing parish house (a single family residence) by the Boy Scouts. We informed the pastor that this would be a change of use and would require the building to undergo whatever renovations, including but not limited to accessibility, necessary in order to make it code compliant for the Boy Scout use. To date neither the Fire Marshal or Building Official have received additional information
