Conditions
• By building code definition a car port only has two •
walls.The walls that have been constructed changes
the use to a garage. In addition the walls as
constructed would require frost protection since they
project up to the underside of structural beams.
• Remove the top courses of block walls to separate

change of use from a car port to a garage.
• If a garage conversion is the choice then additional
steps will be required to convert this space to a
garage.
• Please contact the building department as to which
direction you choose.
