Sposato 28 Baldwin Ct. Uncasville, Ct. 06382 Re: Sunroom Certificate of Occupancy Inspection Dear Ms. Sposato, On October 27, 2004 I conducted a Certificate of Occupancy inspection for the sunroom addition at the above referenced address and noted the following Connecticut Building Code violations: 1) New washing machine piping and new kitchen sink installation installed without the required plumbing permit. 2) Electrical for sunroom and new exterior receptacle outlet installed without the required electrical permit. 3) Plans for the sunroom do not indicate that the room is to be heated. Q 4) Heating installed in sunroom without the required permit, heat loss calculations and MecCheck calculations. g 5) New heat piping in basement not properly supported. 6) Patio door is not properly installed - the door is leaking. 7) Existing plumbing vent pipe required to be extended to minimum 12" above new roof. 8) Stairs to the sunroom are not Building Code compliant - Riser heights are un-even and the stairs are not level. 9) Outermost support beam for sunroom floor is supported at one end by the anchor bolt - the beam is not resting on the concrete pier. 10) Innermost support beam does not land over the pier at one end and is supported by a 4"x4" post next to the beam instead. 11) Insulation under the sunroom floor is exposed. The insulation must be covered to protect against the elements. 12) Gas line and tank installed without the required gas line test and inspection. 13) Vinyl siding not properly installed - nails on starter strip on rear of structure spaced too far apart. (Inspection of the rest of the siding installation is required to determine if the siding is properly installed on balance of structure). 14) Hole drilled in siding for installation of cable TV wire is not properly sealed. The above noted violations must be corrected before a Certificate of Occupancy is issued for the sunroom. Please be advised that use of the room without the required Certificate of Occupancy is a violation of Connecticut Building Code. If you have any questions you may contact me at the Town of Montville Building Department during regular working hours. Sincerely, Vernon D.
