JENSEN: Thank you for advising this office of the alleged violations of Connecticut General Statutes Title 20, Chapter 393 and the regulations, and or the Connecticut State Building Codes, and or any other related Town, City and or State statute or ordinance or code by the aforementioned respondent(s). I am investigating your complaint and the Department of Consumer Protection Legal Staff will be notified of the alleged violations by the respondent(s) and their unlicensed and or unregistered employees who performed the occupational work described in your complaint. Please note that the Building Department Staff Member who observed the alleged violations will be required to testify before the Occupational Work Examining Board in this matter. They can present oral testimony regarding their observations and written testimony, including but not limited to, the permit application, the permit, if issued, and the rough and or final field inspection notes containing the code violations found. The DCP Legal Staff will send written notification to your office of the day, date and time for your staff member to appear in Hartford, CT, before the Board in any formal administrative action. The CGS, Section 20-341(b) and (c) (Substitute House Bill No. 6630), effective October 1, 1997, states, in part that; if an examining board imposes a fine or civil penalty under the provisions of this section, as a result of a violation initially reported by a municipal official, the Commissioner of Consumer Protection shall, not less than sixty days after collecting such fine or penalty, remit one-half of the amount collected to such municipality. Such violation is up to $1000.00 for the first offense, up to $1,500.00 for the second offense and up to $3,000.00 for the third and subsequent offense.
