Background Information
This operation was previously run by Soneco/Northeastern. Phase 1 excavation operations have
been ongoing for approximately 11 years.
Analysis
The applicant has installed and is maintaining Phase 1 erosion and sediment control measures as
shown on the December 15, 200 site plan. The sediment ponds are installed and maintained. The
30 foot wide access road has been constructed and stabilized with compacted gravel. A cell
storage technique has been used in the southerly portion of Phase 1. Cells have been blasted into
the bedrock, rock material extracted, then the cells have been filled with non market grade earth
product in order to achieve the final grading plan.
This activity is appropriate in a LI Zone.
There are no complaints or violations that I am aware of associated with this operation.
Traffic Analysis
This operation may generate 50 trips per day during peak season. Trucks enter and exit at a
signalized intersection on to Route 85. Traffic generated by this project is acceptable.
