It shall be unlawful for any person, firm or corporation whether as owner, lessee, sub-lessee or occupant to erect, construct, enlarge, alter, repair, improve, remove, con- vert, demolish, equip, use, occupy or maintain any one- and two- family dwelling in the jurisdiction or cause or permit the same to be done, contrary to or in violation of any of the provisions of this code. SECTION 118 STOP WORK ORDERS 118.1 General. Upon notice from the building official, work on any building, structure, electrical, gas, mechanical or plumbing system that is being done contrary to the provisions of this code shall immediately cease. Such notice shall be in writing and shall be given to the owner of the property, or to his agent, or to the person doing the work, and shall state the specific violations and the conditions under which work may be resumed. Where an emergency exists, the building official shall not be required to give a written notice prior to stopping the work. I contacted you the beginning of the summer. I explained to you we were repairing our patio. You asked if we were rebuilding, I said no just repairing. When we started we opened pandoras box, our repairs turned into having to replace all the boards. We did not touch the frame and footings as they are in good shape. I was under the impression that if we did we would have needed a permit, but just repairing would not raced a permit. I am very sorry if I misunderstood. We have a severely handicapped child, our intention was to make sure the patio was safe, also the old wood was splintered. For her safety, we ad:lcd a ~,ntall patio that was not part of the original patio. Heidi never started walking until she was I ; so srciirs can be difficult. We wanted her to have a place to stop and rest. Please stop over and chcch our hat we have done, and we will be glad to do whats necessary to comply.
