Received a complaint for the fact that the stockpile of sand has not been covered and there appears to be
some dredge spoils being maintained on site. Inspection of site conducted and the salt pile is growing and not
covered at this time. Review of the file shows that this is a CT DEEP requirement, not a condition of the PZC
approval. Inspected the rest of the site for stockpile of possible dredge spoils. Only other stockpile of
material on site was what appeared to be clean fill.
Returned a call to the Complainant and advised her of the above. Advised her that if the salt pile does not get
covered, that she should contact CT DEEP as that was their requirement. As far as the dredge spoils
complaint, I advised that the stockpiles appear to be clean fill and not spoils at all. There was no smell and no
flies or pests were present in the immediate area. She appreciated the returned call.
COMPLAINT CLOSED.
