GRADING_ SEDIMENT AND EROSION CONTROL NOTES:
1. THIS PROJECT IS FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OF A NEW FOURTEEN (14) LOT
SINGLE FAMILY RESIDENTIAL SUBDIVISION. PROPOSED DEVELOPMENT SHALL BE
SERVICED BY APPROXIMATELY 970 FT OF ASPHALT ROADWAY AND
UNDERGROUND UTILITIES. ASSOCIATED CONSTRUCTION CONCERNS INCLUDE:
A. TRACKING OF MATERIAL ONTO OLD COLCHESTER ROAD: THIS WILL BE
CONTROLLED WITH THE USE OF A STONE CONSTRUCTION ENTRANCE.
B. POTENTIAL EROSION OF FILLED SLOPES:
TO HELP STABILIZE ANY STEEP SLOPES, JUTE NETTING WILL BE
INSTALLED ON ANY SLOPES GREATER THAN 2:1 IMMEDIATELY AFTER FINISH
GRADES ARE ESTABLISHED. SLOPES WILL BE COMPACTED IN 12 INCHES LIFTS,
MAXIMUM, OF STRUCTURAL BACKFILL.
C. POTENTIAL EROSION OF DISTURBED AREAS:
NEW SEDIMENT FENCE SHALL BE THE FIRST ITEM OF CONSTRUCTION. THE
SEDIMENT FENCE SHALL BE INSTALLED AT ALL DOWN GRADIENT LIMITS OF
DISTURBANCE AND SHALL BE MAINTAINED UNTIL ALL DISTURBED AREAS ARE
PERMANENTLY STABILIZED.
2. IF THE SUBDIVISION IS CONSTRUCTED IN PHASES, A MODIFICATION TO
THE EROSION AND SEDIMENT CONTROL PLAN SUBJECT TO APPROVAL OF
THE TOWN OF MONTVILLE PLANNER WILL BE IMPLEMENTED TO
ENSURE EFFECTIVE SOIL STABILIZATION AND SEDIMENTATION CONTROL BETWEEN
PHASES.
3. CONSTRUCTION SEQUENCE FOR SOIL EROSION AND SEDIMENT CONTROLS
FOR ROAD CONSTRUCTION AND RELATED SITE DEVELOPMENT (PHASE 1):
A. A PRE -CONSTRUCTION MEETING WITH THE PLANNING DEPARTMENT SHALL
BE HELD PRIOR TO THE START OF CONSTRUCTION.
B. AN ENVIRONMENTAL BOND IN AN AMOUNT TO BE DETERMINED BY THE
PLANNING DEPARTMENT SHALL BE POSTED WITH THE PLANNING
DEPARTMENT PRIOR TO THE START OF CONSTRUCTION.
C. THE TOWN PLANNER SHALL INSPECT THE EROSION CONTROL
MEASURES PRIOR TO THE START OF CONSTRUCTION.
D. THE DEVELOPER SHALL DESIGNATE AN INSPECTOR, WITH EXPERIENCE
IN SEDIMENT AND EROSION CONTROL, WHO SHALL SUBMIT REPORTS
ONCE A MONTH AND AFTER EACH STORM EVENT TO THE PLANNING
DEPARTMENT, AS LONG AS CONSTRUCTION IS TAILING PLACE, UNLESS
RELEASED FROM THIS REQUIREMENT BY THE ENVIRONMENTAL OFFICER
E. INSTALL TEMPORARY CONSTRUCTION ENTRANCE, SEDIMENT FENCES
AND/OR HAY BALE BARRIERS AS SHOWN ON THIS PLAN.
F. CLEAR TREES, SHRUBS AND BRUSH IN AREAS WHERE GRADING WILL BE
REQUIRED AND GRUB AREAS TO REMOVE ALL STUMPS, ROOTS, ETC.
DISPOSE OF ALL MATERIAL CLEARED AND GRUBBED OFF SITE.
G. REMOVE AND STOCKPILE ALL TOPSOIL ON SITE AND PROVIDE A
SEDIMENT FENCE ON THE DOWN SLOPE SIDE. SEED STOCKPILE WITH
PERENNIAL RYEGRASS AT A RATE OF 40 POUNDS PER ACRE AND MULCH
WITH HAY OR STRAW.
H. EXCAVATE AND/OR FILL WORK SITE TO SUB GRADE LEVEL. FILL WILL BE PLACED
AND COMPACTED IN 8 INCH LIFTS AND SHALL BE FREE OF BRUSH, RUBBISH
LOGS, BUILDING DEBRIS OR ANY OTHER OBJECTIONABLE MATERIAL. MOISTEN
SOIL SURFACE PERIODICALLY WITH WATER TO MINIMIZE DUST.
4. CONSTRUCTION SEQUENCE FOR SOIL EROSION AND SEDIMENT CONTROLS
FOR FINAL ROAD WORK (PHASE 2):
A. INSTALL UTILITIES AND CONSTRUCT ROAD. ADD EROSION CONTROL
DEVICES AS SHOWN, STABILIZATION, BY TEMPORARY SEEDING OR
OTHER APPROPRIATE METHOD, SHALL BE REQUIRED FOR ANY DISTURBED
SLOPE AREAS THAT ARE NOT FINAL GRADED AND LEFT DISTURBED FOR
10 DAYS.
B. PLACE AND COMPACT BASE MATERIAL TO FINAL GRADE. INSTALL
PAVEMENT, LANDSCAPING, ETC.
C. ALL DISTURBED AREAS NOT COVERED BY BUILDINGS, DRIVEWAYS,
ROADWAY, ETC., SHALL BE GRADED AND STABILIZED AS FOLLOWS:
1. PLACE MINIMUM 4 INCHES OF TOPSOIL IN ALL AREAS. APPLY
LIMESTONE AND FERTILIZER IN ACCORDANCE WITH SOIL TEST
RECOMMENDATIONS.
2. APPLY RECOMMENDED SEED MIXTURE AT RECOMMENDED RATE.
3. APPLY STRAW OR HAY MULCH ON ALL SEEDED AREAS.
4. SEEDING SHOULD TAKE PLACE BETWEEN APRIL 1 AND JUNE 15 OR
.AUGUST 15 AND SEPTEMBER 30. IF OUTSIDE THESE PERIODS, AREAS
SHALL BE STABILIZED WITH STRAW OR HAY MULCHING AT A RATE OF 90
POUNDS PER 1000 SQUARE FEET.
D. ALL GRADED AREAS WITH SLOPES STEEPER THAN 3 HORIZONTAL TO 1
VERTICAL, OR AS DIRECTED, SHALL BE STABILIZED WITH JUTE NETTING.
E. RECOMMENDED SEED MIXTURE: FUTURA 2000 BY THE CHAS C. HART
CO. CONTAINING THE FOLLOWING VARIETIES OF PERENNIAL RYEGRASSES:
