Two additional lots will be created from this subdivision, one will be retained for future use and the other will remain in its natural state as open space. Construction is scheduled to begin approximately May 1, 1990 with the installation of a gravel entrance drive as depicted 'on these plans. This drive will serve as a construction entrance for the site. Prior to any site development of lot 24E and 24F, all soil erosion control measures shall be in place and inspected by a representative from the Town of Montville. After SESC measures are inspected, excavation and grading for homes, wells, drives, and septic systems will begin. Anticipated completion of all work is scheduled for October 1, 1990. Mr. Craig Stelik, telephone 848-9157, will be responsible for installation and maintenance of all SESC measures. Filter Silt Fence Installation 1. Dig a 6" trench on the uphill side of the desired fence line location. 2. Position the post in the back'of the trench (downhill side), and hammer the post -at least 1.5 feet into the ground. 3. Lay the bottom 6' of the fabric into the trench to prevent undermining by storm water run=off. 4. Backfill the trench and compact. 1".- TenCe Ma4..ten1nce 1. Filter fence shall be inspected after heavy rainfall. If the fabric or posts are out of the ground they will be replaced into the ground. 2. Sediment deposits are to be removed if they reach one foot in height behind the fence. Optional Eavbale installation 1. Bales shall be placed in a single row, lenthwise, oriented parallel to the contour, with ends of adjacent bales tighty abutting one another. 2. Bales shall be entrenched and backfilled.+ A trench shall be excavated the width of a bale and the length of the proposed barrier to a minimum depth of 4 inches. After the bales are staked, the excavated soil shall be backfilled against the barrier. 3. Each bale shall be securely anchored by at least two (2).stakes. 4. 7"he gaps between bales shall be wedged with straw to prevent water from escaping between the bales. 5. The barrier shall be extended to such a 'Length that the boctems of the end bales are higher in elevation than t:,e too of t,e lowest middle bale to assure that sediment 'Laden run-off wil_ =low either throu;n or over the barrier, but Zoc around it Havoale Maintenarce 1. _nspection shall be made after each star• event and repair or reDLacement shall be mace proIIpcly as needed. 2. Cleanout of accumulated sediment behind the bales is necessary if 1/2 of the original height of the bales becomes filled in with sediment. Inspe^_tion Tire sediment and erosion control structures will be inspected monthly and after every substantial rain event. An inspection report will be sent to the representative of the Town by the project engineer on a monthly basis. The inspection report will cite the condition and effectiveness of the sediment and erosion control strt:ctures. If corrective action is needed, a follow-up inspection report will be sent to the Town once the corrective measures are taken. The representative of the town will be notified prior to tie removal of the sedimentation and erosion control structures. Clearing and Grubbing 1. The sedimentation and erosion control structures will be installed as shown on the site plans. 2. The project engineer and a representative from the town will be notified for an inspection of the sedimentation and erosion control structures. 3. Remove trees and brush within area to be cleared. Chip branches and brush for use as on site mulch. 4. Remove any unsuitable soil and transport to an approved off site landfill. 5. Strip and stockpile suitable topsoil in locations depicted on plans. 6. Clearing should be orderly and consolidated during the clearing operation. Extreme care must be observed by machine operators as not to disturb or damage the sedimentation and erosion control structures (knocking out sediment fences and havbales). TOPSOIL STOCKPILE The topsoil and excavated subsoil will be stockpiled within the area of disturbance. Sediment fences or staked haybales will be placed on the stockpile and shall not exceed 2:1. The topsoil stockpile will be seeded with rye grass. Seeding for temporary vegetative cover is not recommended after October 1. A hay mulch or jute netting will be applied to the stockpile if a vegetative cover can not become established. Seedbed Preparation & Seedin The site will be fine graded and the soil surface raked to remove stones larger than 2 inches in diameter. Topsoil will be spread at a minimum compacted depth of 4 inches. Once the topsoil has been spread, all stones 2 inches or larger will be removed as well as debris. Apply agricultural ground limestone at a rate of 100 lbs. per 1000 square feet. Apply 10-10-10 fertilizer or equivilent at rate of'7.5 lbs. per 1000 square feet. Do not apply fertilizer to wetland areas. Work lime and fertilizer into the soil to a depth of 4 inches. Inspect seedbed before seeding. If traffic has compacted the soil, retill compacted areas. Apply the following grass seed mix: Road Sides, Banks and Wetland Areas fix Lbs./Acres Lbs./100 Reed Canarygrass 205 Red Top 5 .10 Total 25 ,55 Lawns Mix Lbs./-cres Lbs./1000 S.. Kentucky Bluegrass 20 .45 Creeping Red Fescue 20 .45 Perennial Ryegrass 5 i0 Total 45 1.00 The recommended seeding dates are: April 1 through June 1 August 15 through September 15 TemDorary Mulching Following seeding, firm seedbed with a roller and mulch the seedbed surface with straw or hay at a rate of 1.5 to 2 tons/acre. If seeding cannot be conducted during the recommended seeding dates, a mulch cover will be maintained until seeding can be accomplished. Erosion control blankets (woven straw) to be used as mulch on all slopes in excess of 5%.
