OXOBOXO LAKE SANITARY NEEDS EVALUATION
URS Corporation AES was retained by the Montville Water Pollution Control Authority (WPCA)
to evaluate the sewer needs for the Oxoboxo Lake area. A sample of records obtained from
the Uncas Health District indicate that seventeen (17) of the properties within the evaluation
area have applied for sewage disposal system repair permits. Some of the noted causes for
failures in this area were noted to be moist/ damp soil or percolation rate of less than 1 min
per inch. There are multiple alternatives for extending public sewers to this area. When
comparing the cost of each of the three alternatives, a life cycle analysis was computed on the
project cost. Each infrastructure type was assigned a life expectancy compliance with industry
standards. No current plans are in place to extend the sewers with accompanying pump
stations. This would include the 141 Lake Drive East property once proposed for pump station
development. Derek
