MEMORANDUM OF MEETING (#1) PROJECT: Montville New Animal Shelter Facility CLIENT: Town of Montville
MEETING PLACE: Montville Town Hall, Finance Office DATE AND TIME: July 12, 2022 @ 10:00 am

Paul Jorgensen SPA Purpose: A ‘kick off’ meeting for an overview of the project and begin preliminary programming.
The team of attendees discussed animal control’s previous efforts over the years to obtain a dedicated facility. The current project budget (funding) and timeline were noted, including upcoming targets for local site plan approvals, likely in October but possibly earlier.
Program spaces and/or requirements
• 1 full time staff (Christian), 8 hour days. The building is not a 24 hour operation.
• 1 part time staff
• Administrative office
• A “meet and greet” area for public coming to the building, which can be part of the office
• Toilet (single hole, for staff) with a shower stall
• No meeting room is needed
• Small staff kitchenette: counter with refrigerator, microwave, coffee maker
• 14-16 kennels for dogs

o 3 quarantine kennels o 1 extra-large kennel (1.5-2X the size of a typical kennel)
• Cattery – space for 20 cages
• Space for chest freezer
• Utility room
o Washroom (dog wash tub)
o Washer/dryer
• Storage rooms for: blankets, food, cleaning supplies, crates, etc.
• Indoor/outdoor kennel runs with overhangs and fencing
• Schedule: 824 P+Z referral for August to inform of project
• Civil engineer – may use town preferred engineer who knows site
• 4 parking spaces on site
• Sound dampening / acoustic control is important inside building.
• P. Jorgensen noted that any building products, standards or systems preferred by the town or building users should be shared to incorporated into the design or
specifications. This is particularly important during design development and
construction documents. Next steps: o The architect will prepare a spreadsheet listing all program spaces and approximate
sizes as a starting point to develop schematic floor plans.
o L. Burdick will email contact information for the civil engineer who is familiar with the proposed site, including previous layouts. o Schematic floor plans will be developed in the next 2-3 weeks and emailed for discussion/feedback in a virtual meeting. Once the plan starts to take shape, the
design team will prepare preliminary exterior elevations / computer rendering.
Any corrections, additions, or comments should be made to Silver / Petrucelli + Associates within 14 days of the date of the meeting. Distribution: Attendees, file
