Ous Estate (Glemboski/Ous property) Address: Walker Rd (062-003-000) Meeting Date: September 16, 2021 Request The Town of Bozrah is asking for a letter of support from The Montville Inland Wetlands and Watercourses Commission to receive funding under CT DEEP Open Space and Watershed Acquisition (OSWA) Program. The funds will be used to purchase the Glemboski/Ous property. The property in Montville is 55+/- acres, Bozrah property is 105 +/- acres and together are 160 +/- acres of forested property. The acquisition will expand the open space area within the Trading Cove Brook Watershed area, increasing recreational opportunities for the community, secure wildlife areas and allow for future expansions of a trail systems into the Milo Light Preserve. Together with The Nature Conservancy’s 338 acres Milo Light Preserve this acquisition will protect high-quality drinking water sources critical to Southeastern Connecticut. Norwich Public Utilities (NPU) reports that it is vitally important as it serves nearly 40,000 people in the surrounding area. NPU states this potential acquisition will ensure quality and quantity water to the community for years to come. Draft Motion The Town of Montville Inland Wetlands & Watercourses Commission supports the Town of Bozrah’s effort to obtain a CT DEEP Open Space and Watershed Land Acquisition Grant to acquire the Bertha Glemboski & Bety J Ous Estate property (062-003-000), +/- 55 acres in Oakdale, Connecticut. This acquisition will expand the open space area of the Trading Cove Brook Watershed, allowing for permanent protection of drinking water source along with increasing recreational opportunities for the community, secure wildlife areas and allow for future expansions of a trail systems into the Milo Light Preserve.
