Items 1 through 6 in the outline below are copied from agenda distributed by VV.
1.0 Special Inspections
1.1 Statement of Special Inspections:
VV: I do not have & have not signed the Statement of Special Inspections. SO: I emailed it to you &
Dave during our phone call last week. VV: Probably in my spam, will check. DJ found & printed the
email.
1.2 Reports for Inspections Conducted:
VV: I have not received any inspection reports. PL: We have not done any special inspections yet.
Special Inspection requirements reviewed, including framing, which is underway. PL will engage
testing company. DP & MC will make sure that reports are sent to VV & DJ.
2.0 Helical Piles – Bldg J

depth of installation followed. SO & FB pulled up the boring logs on their screens &
showed/explained them to VV.
2.2 Weight Capacity Verification:
Same as item 2.1.
2.3 Any Inspection of Installation of piles?
Same as item 2.1.
2.4 Plan Change for reduced number of columns:
Same as item 2.1.
3.0 Elevator – Bldg B
3.1 State Elevator Permit:
PL: KONE would be obtaining the permit.
3.2 Elevator and Shaft Construction Drawings:
DM: SKS’s have been issued to better show how we are handling the beams that penetrate the
shaft.
3.3 Elevator Shaft Wall Thickness – 8” or 12”?
DM/SO:8”
3.4 Inconsistencies on plans – open to 4th floor?
SO: Ceiling of shaft is missing on our drawings. We will issue ASK showing ceiling of shaft. VV: How
would space above ceiling be accessed? SO: It will be open to the corridor, so via a ladder placed in
the corridor.
3.5 Elevator Shaft Rating at Beam Pockets (2” concrete):
SO: Shaft walls are allowed by code to be penetrated, as long as it is solid blocking. The heavy timber
existing beam that will penetrate the shaft will provide solid blocking.
3.6 Elevator – Top of shaft is shown open to 4th floor under existing roof:
Same as item 3.4 above.
3.7 4th floor after removing beam/timbers from column lines L2.B (elevator shaft): How are roof and floor
loads transferred and supported to foundation?
DM: They bear on the elevator shaft. The shaft’s bearing capacity far exceeds the loads being
transferred to it.
3.8 Termination of shaft in 4th floor. No cap shown. How & where is it vented?
SO: We will issue ASK showing termination of shaft. The requirement for venting of elevator shafts
was deleted in the 2018 CT Building Code.
4.0 Rear Stairwell – Bldg B:
4.1 4th floor after removing beam/timbers from column lines L2.N (rear stairwell): How are roof and floor
loads transferred and supported to foundation?
DM: We have steel columns on every floor with a new footing in the sub-basement supporting the
floor loads. I will review the roof loads & issue SKS as needed.
4.2 Floor joist support details required – not typical to other floors.
DM: I will review & issue SKS as needed.
5.0 Other Items – Bldg B:
5.1 Front vestibule ceilings up to 4th floor – old hatches in floor not addressed.
DM: I will review & issue SKS as needed. We planned to make the new sleepers structural at the 4th
floor hatch, but I am just learning that there are hatches on every floor.
5.2 Note Laundry Room on 2nd level.
DM: Will be taken into account when addressing item 5.1.
6.0 NOTE:
6.1 Crawl space passage required (2015 IBC section 1209) 18”x24” min.
PL: We are already underway in providing a 30” wide opening.

6.2 Timber window lintels missing 1st floor existing:
DM: These have already been addressed in an SKS. SO delivered prints of all SKS’s and ASK’s to DJ.
7.0 Communication/Transfer of Documents:
7.1 Access to Egnyte site containing all documentation for the job:
Discussion held about the best way to share information and documents, as VV indicated that they
do not have many documents, including the project manual, and they will need submittals & all SK’s
moving forward. It was determined that the most efficient method is for the BO & FM to have access
to the Egnyte site that contains all documentation.SO emailed a link to access the Egnyte site to VV,
DJ, WB and PB during the meeting. VV & WB indicated that there is no need for a printed project
manual to be delivered to them at this time as long as they can access it via the Egnyte site.
8.0 Sprinklers:
8.1 Sprinklers in crawl space below Bldgs G, H & J:
SO: Requesting to not have sprinklers in the crawl space in Bldgs G, H & J per the exception listed in
NFPA 13. WB & PB reviewed the exception in NFPA 13 & approved the request.
8.2 Sprinklers in Bldg L:
SO: Bldg L is a stand-alone building, whose maintenance use has been deleted as a VE. If we change
the use to Storage (not high hazard storage), according to the IBC the building would not need
sprinklers. WB/PB: Submit this & we will review. If the building is within the square footage limits
this would be approved. SO: It is well under the square footage limits. We will submit for your
review. We can add signage in the building as to the types of prohibited storage (propane tanks,
gasoline, etc) if you would like.
