SOIL EROSION & SEDIMENT CONTROL NOTES I Unnecessary clearing of any vegetation or ground cover will be avoided. Any disturbed area left unvegetated for more than five days Will be covered with a hay or straw mulch to minimize erosion material. 2. Following final grading, all disturbed areas will be covered with 6" loam and seeded as described below. If any seeded areas are disturbed or damaged, reseeding will occur as soon as possible. Seed Mixture Seeding Rate by Wt. Any proposed vegetation which has not survived one growing season VL411 be replaced. 4. All suitable material excavated for roadway construction to be used elsewhere on site. Unsuitable material will be removed from the site and deposited in a suitable location. 5. All construction activity to occur between March 15 and October 15 to avoid adverse impacts on intermittent stream flow. 10X I" X3' Stake FLOW Bales placed Perpendicular to Flow Compacted Backfill STAKED HAYBALE DETAIL SCALE: N.T.S. Bales shall be placed in a single row, lengthwise, oriented perpendicular to the expected flow, with ends of adjacent bales tightly abutting one another. 2. Bales shall be entrenched and backfilled. A trench shall be excavated the width of a bale and the length of the proposed barrier to a minimum depth of4 inches. 3. Each bale shall be securely anchored by at least two (2) stakes. 4. The gaps between bales shall be wedged with straw to prevent water from escaping between the bales. 5. The barrier shall be extended to such a length that the bottoms of the end bales are higher in elevation than the top of the lowest middle bale to assure that sediment laden run-offwill flow either through or over the barrier, but not around it. HAY BALE INSTALLATION Inspection shall be made after each storm event and repair or replacement shall be made promptly as needed. 2. Cleanout of accumulated sediment behind the bales is necessary if 1/2 of the original height of the bales becomes filled in with sediment. 7 Erosi Control S t Fence WL141 SodStock Pile Area fV1 1LVU1 LV Er si Control Silt Fence and 1 1 Hay Bales in FlAw Path Silt r w Path Proposed Triple 18" Chia Culvert Location Scale 111 - - 101 a TES: THIS SURVEY AND MAP HAS BEEN PREPARED PURSUANT TO THE REGULATIONS OF CONNECTICUT SATE AGENCIES SECTIONS 20-300b-1 THROUGH 20-300b-20 AND THE "STPNDARDS FOR SURVEYS AND MAPS IN THE STATE OF CONNECTICUT" AS ADOPTED BY THE CONNECTICUT ASSOCIATION OF LAND SURVEYORS, INC.
