NEWSLETTER
MARCH 1980
NEXT MEETING: Wednesday March 26th, 1980, at 7:00 P.M. ,
at the Montville Senior Citizens Center, Route 32, Uncasville,
Conn.
Dear Members and Friends:
With the advent of spring, work will progress on the Rogers
house. We expect to get under way with a bang! Plans call
for the building of a two-flue brick chimney, with a living
room fireplace, building of which to start in a couple of
weeks. At last the roof of the house will be closed in.
Since the cost of the chimney will be $1100.00, our treasury
will need help. May we remind you, if you haven' t paid your
dues, please, won't you do it now?
NOTICE: At this meeting we will auction off the oil
painting of The Mohegan Congregatiaiial'IQhnhch. The picture
is 18 by 24 inches, and was painted by Dr. Bellos. The
church was built in 1835. This would make a nice addition
to any home, besides being part of local history.
A yard and bake sale is planned for May 17th, at The Town
Hall, starting at 10 A.M. till ? We will need all the
pies, cakes, cupcakes and goodies we can get, also yard
sale items, so when spring cleaning gets under way, be sure to save
your trash and treasures for the yard sale.
If you didn' t attend the anniversary meeting in January, you
missed a very enlightening demonstration of furniture and
metal refinishing by Tom West of The Montville Furniture
Stripping & Metal Polishing Co. He was most gracious in
answering all questions relative to all methods of refinishing
wood and metal. The Society wishes to thank him most
cordially.
Andy Aldrich will show slides of historic Williamsburg and
Sturbridge Village at the meeting and refreshments will be
served. Please plan to attend.
