Dear Mr. Camillucci :
It has come to the attention of this Department that a discharge of
waste oils etc. to the Krug propertyat 141 P
originates at property

Polly's Lane, Uncasville
originates atyourpaved drive pareawasvverified bycthisawrite
on Monday, August 24, 1981. ter
The discharge of this material is in direct violation of Section 25-54i
of the Connecticut General Statutes and should be terminated immediately.
In addition, the intentional dumping of waste oils is defined as an oil
• spill under statute and failure to report same is punishable by a $5,000
fine (Section 25-54dd C.G.S. ) .
To avoid any legal proceedings by this Department, it is suggested that
the current and future dumping of waste oils be avoided, and the existing
contamination on the Krug property be removed. This can be accomplished by
simply raking up the oily debris, placing the debris in a plastic garbage
bag and disposing of it.
In the future, when changing motor oil , the waste oil should be
collected in cans and disposed of at a service station where you have a
friendly relationship with the.owner. All service stations are required
by regulation to have a minimum 250 gallon tank on site to contain waste
oil . This Department licences the collectors of waste oils, and many
of these collectors are currently paying $0.35 per gallon for this oil ,
so many service stations will allow some people to dump their accumulated
waste oil into their waste oil tanks. However, establishing a good
relationship with the operator is advised prior to requesting permission
to dump the waste oil .
Should you have any questions regarding this problem, please feel
free to contact this office at 566-4633 or 566-4686.
Very truly yours,
Donald Burton, Jr.
