Also, we investigated the roof strength to support required snow live loading of 30 psf. The following are my conclusions: 1. The new solar panels can be installed on the subject roof with no negative effects on the existing roof. The solar panels weigh only 3.0 psf. Also, they will not affect roof structure due to the wind load capacity of 115 mph for 3 second gusts. 2. All work will conform to the the correct IRC Code, Connecticut supplements and local Town Codes as shown on plans. 3. Rails shall be attached at 48"o.c. (24" Maximum Cantilever) with adjacent rails attached to alternating rafter using 5%6"0 stainless steel lagscrews with a minimum of 1 Y2" thread penetration into rafter or top chord of truss. 4. The roof attachment for the solar panels shall be 4- 5%6"0 stainless steel lagbolts to satisfy uplift point load force of 160 lbs.
